Get a website that appears on the first page of results from search engines and therefore generate qualified traffic is a common goal for most webmasters. However, few have the skills needed to actually achieve it. There are many steps to be taken into account to find terms related to your site, also take time to research the best possible keywords or phrases for your website. Many webmasters, in search of traffic to their Web sites make the mistake of placing a generic keyword relacionadoa to your site, thinking that your site will be profitable.

Despite the long run a keyword may provide a good flow of traffic and brand recognition or website that does not mean that traffic convert into sales or leads, and the costs of targeting a single keyword generic not generate a good return on your investment.

It's better for the webmaster to point multiple specific keywords to get traffic not only qualified but also result in qualified traffic that turns into a major conversion. You must first consider what your target audience and the purpose of your site.

Do you sell products online?

Do you offer services?

Do you offer extra content?

There are different types of potential visitors who have different ways of finding your site, so that understanding your audience and the reasons why they visit your website will help you focus your efforts. With this in mind, you can now consider the keywords that people will use to try to find your site. It should not be just a term - a trap that many webmasters fall-by the assumption that a term will provide enough traffic to keep the business and then are surprised and do not get a better ranking.

Consider, for traffic to your website, all possible keywords and phrases to the subject of your site, even using a thesaurus to find related terms or investigate web sites of your competitors to get ideas. You may be surprised on the keywords that your potential visitors want.

Once you have compiled a short list of keywords, you can start using the tools to measure the popularity and competition of those words as well as improve upon to be more oriented to the purpose of your site.

The first step is to find the popularity of keywords that can be done using various tools keyword suggestion. The suggestion tools will tell you what keywords are written in terms of search engines, and how many searches were performed with such terms. If you type a phrase or keyword, the tool will return a selection of alternative phrases that contain the term generic alternative proposals with a similar theme and also an estimate of the amount of traffic that the sentence provides a month.

These tools are often faulty, because the search engines see different traffic estimates can be inaccurate, but are in good condition for a state estimate of the number of searches performed, and suggest several terms that you never may have thought.

I recommend these two tools keyword query:

Google Adwords

The next step is to check how competitive the keyword is selected. Ideally, look for terms that have a high traffic volume, but a few websites competing for that term, and can use various tricks to try this.

Any page that is optimized for one keyword at least have that word in the title tag and the anchor text of links pointing to the site, so go to Google and the use of consultation in title: " Hence the phrase "and in anchor:" phrase here ", you can find out how many pages have been optimized for selected phrase. The lower the number of these searches, the less competitive the term .. The use of these tools has provided a list of terms that are much more specific than its original generic keywords. These may include the term by geographic location, or a specific product.

You should be able to optimize your site for multiple phrases - remember that search engines will index not only your home page, but all internal pages of your website. You must optimize every internal page with different terms or keywords to get traffic.

You can also consider using the key words "long tail". These are phrases of multiple words that are sometimes so specific that they can become better ranked, increasing conversion rates.

The best way to get traffic with long tail keywords is to have a site rich in content - the more valuable the content, the more likely you are to be recognized as an expert in your niche.

So now we finally have a list of key words or phrases more targeted to your website!

As you can see, the process of choosing keywords is not something to be taken lightly, and there is much work to do if you want to maximize the capacity of its website to attract free traffic or organic traffic.
